Glenn's Gases 1.6.3 and Gases Framework 1.2.0 is now officially released! The update has been somewhat available for quite some time already, but it is now officially released. The delayed release is caused by a lack of time for maintaining the project and handling any issues that may arise with this update.

We call this update The Wooden Age. The main feature is the introduction of a new low-end tier of piping tools that is made using wood and duct tape.

Glenn's Gases 1.6.3

  • Added missing localization of warm stone.
  • Removed Black Damp from creative tab.
  • Added proper distinction between Glenn's Gases and Gases Framework blocks and items.
  • Buffed range of Lanterns with Torches.
  • Fix broken name of Ash and removed it from world generation.
  • Diabaline now only appears in pockets of Iocalfaeus Gas.

Gases Framework 1.2.0

  • New block: Added Gas Dynamo.
  • New blocks: Added Wooden tier machinery (Poor man's).
  • New items: Added Adhesive, Duct Tape.
  • Gas explosions are no longer instant and will instead happen in a chain of clustered explosions.
  • Expanded roation possibilities for some blocks.
  • Added proper distinction between Glenn's Gases and Gases Framework blocks and items.
  • Buffed Iron tier machinery.
  • Gas Pipes are now exposed to pressure equal to the length of the path of pushed gas. Pipes exposed to overpressure will make noise and eventually break.
  • Lanterns no longer collide.

As you might have picked up from recent activity on Twitter [1][2], there are things going on with Glenn's Gases and the Gases Framework that have slowly been in the making for a while, not all the while. We should be releasing something soon enough. While most changes are internal and related to the Gases Framework API, there are still some features that you probably want to know about.

  • Clustered chain gas explosions. That's right! Gas explosions aren't just one big boom now, but a series of booms.
  • Gas Dynamos, a way to finally convert combustible gas into Redstone Flux.
  • The Wooden Age (to-be title of the upcoming update). The introduction of wooden versions of most gas machinery blocks including the new Gas Dynamo.
  • Buffed iron piping tools.
  • Duct Tape. This is very important.
  • Expanded block rotation. Many blocks can now be rotated a total of 16 ways.
  • A clearer distinction between Glenn's Gases and the Gases Framework.
  • Buffed torch lantern range.

Most of the work has been put into turning the Gases Framework into the API I envisioned, which unfortunately isn't very visible to the end user. Great improvements have been made to the codebase. We're almost ready to start doing some writing on how get started with the API. If you're into modding like us and want to try the Gases Framework API, let us know! We could use some user feedback on the API.

We are also considering to move our build distribution to CurseForge.

A final note: We're working on some ideas for a side project linked with Glenn's Gases that may or may not happen. If we ever realize it, it will be an out-of-this-world experience. Don't tell anyone...

Glenn's Gases 1.6.2 and Gases Framework 1.1.2 is now here! The major feature of this update is that crash-inducing incompatiblitity problems with the Gases Framework and other popular mods were resolved. There's also the new Gas Transposer! It can't be used for much yet, but it has potential.

Glenn's Gases 1.6.2

Gases Framework 1.1.2

The 1.6.1 update for Glenn's Gases and 1.1.1 update for Gases Framework has just been released! There are very few changes, but they can resolve incompatiblity issues. Also a tiny fix.

Glenn's Gases 1.6.1

  • Fixed Bedrock potentially spawning unwanted large amounts of Void Gas in The Nether and The End.

Gases Framework 1.1.1

  • Compressed Gas Effects data watcher to one index to increase compatibility.
  • Made Gas Effects data watcher index configurable. Try modifying this to resolve compatibility conflicts.

The update for Glenn's Gases (1.6.0) and Gases Framework (1.1.0) that were released yesterday are now available for Minecraft 1.7.2! There was also a silent update that resolved a Java version incompatibility. If you are unable to start the game because of a "java.lang.NoSuchMethodError: java.lang.Integer.hashCode(I)I" error, redownload the mods and things will run smoothly.

On another note, an incompatibility with Weapons Mod has been reported. We hope to resolve this soon.
